ABOUT ME

NILOUFAR KIAROSTAMI
Artist. Architect. Landscape Designer.

My name is Niloufar Kiarostami, an artist, architect, and storyteller born in Tehran, Iran, in 1989. Since childhood, I’ve been captivated by the power of art to express what words cannot—illustrating imaginary characters that, even then, seemed to tell stories far beyond their lines. Now, as a self-taught intuitive artist, my work is a reflection of my deepest beliefs and emotions, a journey into the balance of light and darkness that defines our existence. I draw inspiration from the concept of Yin & Yang, exploring how opposing forces are intertwined and how they give rise to one another in the dance of life. My first collection, FreakLand, opened the door to an infinite universe of creatures and narratives that I continue to explore, always with an eye—quite literally—on the interconnectedness of all beings. Eyes are a recurring symbol in my work, representing the gateway to the soul and the silent stories we all carry within. Now based in Italy, where I completed my Master’s in Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design, I let the flow of the universe guide my hand, weaving together the threads of my life, beliefs, and the energy around me into each piece I create.

My journey towards finding my true self through the act of intuitive drawing began many years ago. To me, this process is about going with the flow of energy and letting my hands create a mysterious new world—one full of emotions, characters, and hidden stories that might be unfolding in a parallel universe. Even as a kid, I loved creating random characters without thinking much about them, drawing lines and shapes that helped me see beyond the light and discover the stories hidden in shadows. Back then, I didn’t fully understand the unity of all beings. I didn’t yet believe that our existence is not just tied to our physical bodies, but is more a manifestation of a spiritual being in the physical realm. There is so much more to us than what we can see with our eyes. I call this realization an awakening, though I don’t think I’m completely awakened yet. I’m still in the process of waking up, and on this journey, I experience all kinds of emotions bursting within me in such a short time. Sometimes, I don’t even have the time to analyze how many different feelings I’ve felt—just like in my intuitive drawings, where hundreds, if not thousands, of contrasting emotions and characters coexist in a single frame. As you continue to observe, you might find different pathways and storylines to follow, all sitting together in a balanced chaos.

This journey of exploration and expression is ongoing, and each piece I create is a step towards understanding and articulating the profound mysteries of our existence. Through my art, I invite you to join me in this exploration, to uncover the silent narratives and intricate connections that weave through our shared human experience. Each drawing and painting is not just an image but a part of a larger conversation—one that continues to evolve as I learn and grow. Welcome to my world of intuitive art, where the journey is as meaningful as the destination, and where every observer finds a personal path through the kaleidoscope of life.
